Text message opt-in
The Sicilian Barber · Last updated September 2026
Francesco Miceli, doing business as The Sicilian Barber, sends appointment text messages only to customers who opt in on this website by checking a text-message box. The box is always unchecked by default. There are exactly two places to opt in (the booking form, which has a second chance on its confirmation screen, and the waitlist), all shown below exactly as customers see them. We do not opt anyone in by text keyword, in person, over the phone, or on paper.
1. The booking form (optional opt-in)
URL: book.thesicilianandco.com
- Choose a service.
- Choose a date.
- Choose a time.
- Enter first name, last name, and mobile number. Directly under the phone number is the text-message checkbox shown below, unchecked by default. Then press Confirm Appointment.
Checking the box is optional. The Confirm Appointment button works whether it’s checked or not, and customers who leave it unchecked get no texts.
Step 4, as customers see it
Message details
These texts are a booking confirmation, a reminder before each appointment, and a notice if an appointment is rescheduled or cancelled — typically 2–4 messages per appointment. You can book without checking this box.

1a. The “Reminder Texts?” step (before booking)
If a customer taps Confirm Appointment with the box above left unchecked, the page shows one more step before the appointment is made: a separate, unchecked box with the same wording and a single button. Leaving the box unchecked books the appointment without texts, so consent is never a condition of booking. Same website, same kind of box.

1b. The booking confirmation screen (second chance)
After a customer books and the “You’re booked” screen appears, anyone who left the box above unchecked sees a second, separate, unchecked box and a button, so they can turn text reminders on for the number they just booked with. Leaving it alone changes nothing. This is the same website, the same wording, and the same kind of box.

1c. The text-reminder sign-up page (QR code at the shop)
URL: book.thesicilianandco.com/texts. A QR code at the shop opens this page on the customer’s own phone. They enter their own mobile number and check a separate, unchecked box themselves, then tap the button. The shop never checks the box for anyone, and nobody is opted in in person, by phone or on paper. Same wording as the confirmation screen above.

2. The waitlist
URL: book.thesicilianandco.com/waitlist (the form is right on that page, no clicking through).
Customers choose a service, enter their name, mobile number, the dates they’re available and morning/afternoon preference, then check the box below to get a text when a spot opens. Because a text is the only thing the waitlist does, the box has to be checked to join. It still starts unchecked, and booking an appointment never requires joining.
